May 28. Back to Strasbourg
The trip back to Strasbourg was fairly uneventful. We left Laudéac when Sylvie left for work (her other job) at 11:00. Again it was about 1½ drive to Rennes where we returned the rented car— very grateful that we made it through traffic. Fabi had done all of the driving over the weekend and she was truly exhausted from it. We had almost a 3-hour wait at the train station.
We picked up something to eat on the train and it was pretty good. Be sure to try it when you’re in France.
One very interesting thing happened this day. My niece, Jacquie, and her family, Steve and Caine, were traveling from Normandy to Paris that day. She lives in South Carolina and I haven’t seen her since she got married a few years ago. It was weird to think that we were just a few hours away from each other. We texted and even talked (through WhatsApp) while we were waiting in the train station. That was weird—to be in the same time zone. When the train went through Paris, I texted and let her know I was just minutes away from her. Weird again. Now I’m back in Strasbourg and she is on her way back to her life in South Carolina. What a world.
